The Red River Gorge is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in Eastern Kentucky.  The Gorge was carved out over millions of years by wind and water and is truly an amazing site to experience.

You'll find over 80 natural arches, historical sites and miles and miles of trails for backpacking day hikes.  The views are fabulous with unusual vegetation and the largest concentration of arches and rock shelters east of the Rocky Mountains.  Some of the rock shelters were lived in by ancient Indians and supposedly one of them was used by Daniel Boone, himself!

Relaxation - Choose your style of relaxation - we offer many!

Don't like to hike?...Drive Kentucky's officially designated Red River Gorge Scenic Byway, or ride the skylift to natural bridge.  Does music relax you?...Bask in "Bluegrass" at Clay City's preservation and perfomance center, Meadowgreen Park Music Hall - or have a "hay-day" at Hoe Down Island - Natural Bridge State Park's open air dance patio for weekly square dances.  Meandering more your style?...Mozy through our unique gift stores, "trash and treasure" shops, museums and Kentucky Reptile Zoo.  Prefer dinner and a movie?...Try one of our local "eateries" - home cooked food, and a night at the drive-in.  Rather canoe the nationally designated wild and scenic Red River?  Or hit a few golf balls?  No matter how you define it, you'll find your sort of relaxation here!

Racing - We'll race you to the finish line!...Clay City has offered drag racing since 1963.  Like to get in the race yourself?...Try Clay City's ATV/Dirtbike riding and racing park with 40 miles of trails through every possible terrain, or check out our Kart Speedway and see Kentucky's finest dirt oval racing facility.  Need something a little more tame?...the Natural Bridge area offers an adult go-kart track and mini Nascart track, plus slick track go-karts.

Rocks - Kentucky's "rockin" vacation destination!...Revel in Red River Gorge, the largest concentration of rock shelters and arches east of the rockies.  Network through Natural Bridge State Resort Park's trail system.  Brave the "Bridge" - 900 tons of ancient rock suspended across a mountainside.  Navigate through Nada Tunnel, an early 1900's rock tunnel open to one lane traffic.  Marvel at the native millstone collection at Red River Museum.  Venture the Ferrata - a European climbing system with handgrips, footsteps and safety cables.  Hike the High Rock - listed on the National Register of Historic Places or film Fitchburg Furnace, the world's largest charcoal furnace, constructed in 1868 of native stone.
